TODAY: FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: It is hard for man when he finds himself in front of closed doors. The closed door is a sign of rejection, isolation and being unaccepted. One cannot go through the closed door. Jesus said that He is the door through which His sheep enter. Jesus is not talking about the doors on His sheepfold, but about the way man gets to God. Jesus showed the way to enter the Kingdom of God: through love, goodness, understanding, forgiveness, and peace. We enter true life when we follow His example. Jesus said that He came into this world so that we might have life in abundance. God does not give anything half way…and our answer cannot be only half way. Today we pray in a special way for our priests, bishops, religious men and women, and all those who are carriers of religious vocations. Even though they may be weak, they are the powerful force in the Church. We pray today that they never stop carrying the flag of religiosity, sincerity and honesty. We also pray today that through their examples many young people might respond to God’s call to serve His people as priests and religious so that they may live in abundance and bring that abundance to others.

DANAS: 4.
POPE BENEDICT XVI VISIT TO UNITED STATES
![]()
Pope Benedict XVI will visit two cities in the States: New York City and Washington, DC. April 15 to April 20. The theme the Pope chose for this journey: «Christ our hope.»
Before setting off, the Pope offered us a heartfelt greeting and an invitation to prayer.
«The intention behind my visit, though, is to reach out spiritually to all Catholics in the United States. At the same time, I earnestly hope that my presence among you will be seen as a fraternal gesture toward every ecclesial community, and a sign of friendship for members of other religious traditions and all men and women of good will.» Pope Benedict continues: «I am especially grateful to all who have been praying for the success of the visit, since prayer is the most important element of all. Dear friends, I say this because I am convinced that without the power of prayer, without that intimate union with the Lord, our human endeavors would achieve very little. Indeed this is what our faith teaches us. It is God who saves us. He saves the world, and all of history. He is the shepherd of His people. I am coming, sent by Jesus Christ, to bring you His Word of Life.»
«Following in the footsteps of my venerable predecessors, Paul VI and John Paul II, I shall come to the United States of America for the first time, to proclaim this great truth: JESUS CHRIST IS HOPE FOR MEN AND WOMEN OF EVERY LANGUAGE, RACE, CULTURE AND SOCIAL CONDITION. Yes, Christ is the face of God present among us. I know how deeply rooted this Gospel message is in your country. I am coming to share it with you, in a series of celebrations and gatherings. I shall also bring the message of Christian hope to the great Assembly of the United Nations, to the representatives of all the peoples of the world.»
NOTE TO OUR PARISHIONERS: Let us all pray for a safe and successful journey for Pope Benedict XVI. We welcome him to the United States of America.
