TODAY, 18TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: Jesus uncovers the mystery of His mission: «I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE!»  Each of us feels a hunger and thirst for God.  Only in Christ, who is the Bread of Life and the well of living water, can our thirst and hunger be quenched.  Jesus said openly to His contemporaries: «You are looking for Me because you ate the loaves and were filled.»  He is reprimanding them because they were looking for earthly bread only.  They were looking for the Messiah of Bread of Life.  «Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life.  You are victims of your time, understanding of your time.»  The Lord likes knocking on their hearts and saying to them: «Work for the food that endures for eternal life.  In your encounters with the Son of Man, have you not experienced that this life is passing.. . have you not felt the need for eternal life?»  Again He said to them openly: «It was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; My Father gives you the True Bread from heaven.»  Faith was born in their hearts, for they began saying: Sir, give us this Bread always!  Faith in Jesus Christ is a condition in order to undertstand His life and His actions.  In that faith we have to accept that Jesus is the True Bread which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.  Let us approach the Bread of Life and we will not hunger nor thirst.  Through this faith we will have eternal life.

DANAS: 18. NEDJELJA KROZ GODINU: Isus otkriva tajnu svog poslanja:  «Ja sam kruh života. . .»»

YEAR FOR PRIESTS - - JUNE 19, 2009 TO JUNE 19, 2010

(Please Pray for Priests)

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession

strengthen them for their ministry.  We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words:

“Do whatever He tells you”  (Jn 2:5).  May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse.

May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross.

May your priests be holy, filled with the fire of your love seeking nothing but your greater glory,

and the salvation of souls  AMEN.

Saint John Vianney, pray for us.
