TODAY: 18th Sunday of Ordinary Time: “Where are we to get enough loaves to satisfy so great a crowd?” …. Do you feel responsible for some matter?  For how great a matter.  Do you feel responsible for another individual, for a community?  For how large a community.  Do you feel responsible for yourself?  Or are you still looking around at others and making your behavior and your thinking dependent on their acceptance.  Or perhaps you are still waiting to be discovered, noticed, recognized, led, guided or pushed by others.  Perhaps you still feel it is their responsibility to make sure that your talents are appropriately utilized; perhaps you think it is their responsibility to get you to perform in the jobs and functions for which you were prepared, and that they are to blame for the fact that you are being wasted.

DANAS: 18. Nedjelja Kroz Godinu: «Gdje da kupimo kruha da ovi blaguju . . .

MONTH OF AUGUST: is dedicated to the blessed Sacrament.  We know that summer and holidays are upon us, a very special blessing from the Lord.  How much do we appreciate these blessings?  We should be “Thankful in all circumstances” (Thessalonians 5:16 & 17).  Besides attending an extra Eucharistic Holy Mass, an hour adoring Jesus before the blessed Sacrament is next best.

THIS WEEKEND: The 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday is celebrated by Msgr. Neu.  The 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday will be celebrated by Msgr. Richard Nugent.  Our parishioners thank them for celebrating the Masses during Father Chris’s absence.  Our pastor will return late Friday night, August 8th, and if there are no delays with his travel plans, Father Chris will celebrate Masses starting Saturday morning on the 9th of August.

TODAY:  Second collection is for The Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland.

We all have that once-a-year opportunity to make a contribution for the Church in Poland.  To help the Bishops of Poland send young, talented priests for higher studies to the Pontifical College and Pontifical Institute in Rome and the Polish Seminary in Paris, France.  Without the subsidy from the United States at least one of these seminaries would be forced to close.  Poland also helps to send priests to other dioceses, countries and the missions. Please be generous in your giving.

TODAY: Altar Society Sunday observed.  We encourage members to go to Confession

             and to receive Holy Communion.

MONDAY, AUGUST 4TH: FEAST OF ST. JOHN VIANNEY – PATRON OF PRIESTS.

John lived from 1786 to 1859 in France.  John had a difficult time as a student with his studies, but his life of holiness and prayer were an inspiration to many.  Please do the following to honor all priests:

(1)    Say thanks today to Father Chris, and the many wonderful

priests who have touched your family in some special way.

(2)    Send a letter, card, E-mail, or even a voice mail.

(3)    Invite him to join your family for a typical family meal.

       Don’t fuss.  Just be yourself.

TUESDAY: The Eucharistic Adoration in our church this Tuesday, August 5th,

is sponsored by the Eucharistic Adoration Society and the Pro-Life Office

of the Diocese of Buffalo.  A day of Prayer and Exposition of the

Blessed Sacrament for an end to abortion and the culture of death.

Adoration from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   Please come during the day

to spend at least one hour with the Eucharistic Jesus.

NEXT WEEKEND: Second collection will be for our utilities.
