TODAY, 6th
SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: The
leper from the Gospel was forced to cry out: UNCLEAN, UNCLEAN! even though
separated from other people. He had a
unique opportunity in his life to meet the Teacher of Nazareth. He did not drive him away, nor avoid meeting
him. He allowed him to come to
Him. He extended his hand to Him and at
his request: “If you wish, you can cure me”, He truly cured the leper. People marveled at what took place and the
healed leper went home overjoyed. He
was no longer condemned by God and men - - - how the people considered lepers
to be. With special feelings and
uncovered mercy Jesus met this poor man and in His goodness and love, followed
by Almightiness, frees him, making him clean.
This teaches us that love toward our brothers and sisters is the most effective way to announce the
very love of God. Our love is to be
unselfish and we are to have mercy and feelings toward those who suffer. By doing so we will at least console our
poor brothers and sisters and uplift the downhearted.

DANAS,
6. NEDJELJA KROZ GODINU: Među prvim Isusovim čudesima spominju sinoptici ozdravljenje
gubavca. Ovaj, iako odjeljen od drugih
i prisiljen da već izdaleka viče: «Nečist sam!», imao je
jedinstvenu sreću i milost u svom životu da se susreo s Učiteljem iz
Nazareta. On ga nije od sebe otjerao
niti pred njim skrenuo s puta. Dozvolio
mu je pristup k sebi. Pružio mu ruku i
na njegovu ga molbu: «Ako hoćeš, možeš me oćistiti!», doista
ozdravio.
posebnim suosjećanjem i neprikrivenom sućuti susreće tog
jadnika. Sažali mu se i u svojoj mu
dobroti i ljubavi popraćenoj božanskom svemoći pomaže: oslobađa
ga i čisti. Želi nas poučiti
da je ljubav prema braći najefikasniji put kako ćeme ljudima
priopćiti i samu Božju ljubav.
Znamo li svoj život i djelovanje izgrađivati na nesebičnoj
ljubavi i ljuskom suosjećanju s braćom koja trpe? - - - Nećemo
doduše time činiti čudesa, ali ćemo mnogo ojađeno srce
sadašnjost postala mnogo boljom i ljepšom. Nitko dakle nema prava da sam bude
sretan! Što smo više pomogli drugima,
više ih usrećili i pomogli im, to je i nas same posjetilo sreća i
duševno zadovoljstvo. Klonimo se dakle
samodostatnosti u traganju za srećom!
TODAY, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15
Annual Family Dinner will be served family-style at 1:00
p.m. in Cardinal Stepinac Auditorium.
Cash bar from noon.
Tickets will be available at the door while food is available.
This is a day when families won't have to cook at home,
but come to enjoy the meal
prepared by the ladies of our parish.
FAMILY
Our family comes from many homes,
Our hair is straight, our hair is brown,
Our hair is curled, our eyes are blue,
Our skins are different colors, too.
We're girls and boys, we're big and small,
We're young and old, we're short and tall.
We're everthing that we can be,
And still we are a family.
We laugh and cry, we work and play,
We help each other every day.
The world's a lovely place to be
Because we are A FAMILY!
TODAY: Second
collection is for our utilities.
TUESDAY: Rosary
from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Benediction.
WEDNESDAY: Religious
Instructions for Adults from 6 to 7 p.m. in our rectory. TOPIC: THE
BIBLE.
PRO-LIFE
YOUTH GROUP
Thursday, February 19: Parish
Pro-Life Youth Group will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the upper room of
our church hall. We invite all high
school teens to join us. For more information
please call Miss Maureen Mead at 827-1923.
FRIDAY, FEBV. 20: Friday
night movie will feature a 1987 British film:“Babette’s feast”. Story
is about a pair of aging sisters. These pious sisters lead quiet lives of
touching service among their late father’s remaining followers. Behind the
film’s deceptively simple story is a sort of parable or fable of religion and
life. Movie starts at 7:15 p.m. in
upper room of our auditorium. Snacks available.
IMPORTANT EVENTS IN OUR PARISH
CONFESSIONS: Every Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and before weekend Masses. Ash Wednesday will be here before you know
it....Wednesday, February 25....and we should begin to prepare for the
Lenten and Easter season.
BINGO: Come to our comfortable hall, Cardinal Stepinac Auditorium, corner of Abbott Road and West Elmview, to
play Bingo every Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
9 games are played, one of which is a $1000.00 coverall game. Admission Board: $3.00. You may be the lucky winner of one of the
prizes, especially the $1000.00 prize.
We also have Bell Jar pull tabs, snack bar, plus coffee and goodies in
the kitchen. Everyone welcome!
FOCA/RHAPP: Currently, there are two legislative imminent threats to
unborn life that need your attention. FOCA, which stands for the
Freedom of Choice Act, is pending abortion legislation in Congress at the
federal level and represents the most radical threat to unborn children
ever. Coming soon, a postcard campaign
will be conducted in each parish in the Diocese of Buffalo to oppose this
extreme abortion bill. See www.nchla.org
and www.fightfoca.com. At the state level the RHAPP bill, which stands for the Reproductive Health and
Privacy Protection Act, is an imminent threat to unborn life here in NYS. See www.nyscatholic.org to take action now. We will have postcards to sign the weekend
of February 28 and March 1.
