TODAY, 5th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: Jesus dedicated Himself completely to preaching God’s Word and healing the sick.  Despite that, He also spent time in prayer both day and night. Preaching God’s Word was more important to Him than healing the sick and expelling demons.  He came into this world to preach the Good News and to proclaim God’s Kingdom.  People were more attentive to His word after they heard about His healings, and accepted Him more readily.  They brought their sick even after sunset to be healed.  Nervousness and rushing were not part of His life --- His every breath was with peace and concentration, and He always found time for prayer.  When the Gospel says that everyone was looking for Him, it means that a great multitude of people who were tired and overburdened wanted to come to Him, because they placed all their hope in Him.  He was expelling demons --- this spoke abundantly about the power of the Stranger over Satan.  By doing so Jesus engaged in a fight against His Enemy --- the fight started in the desert and will experience the decisive moment on the Cross.  Expelling demons is a great effective sign of the coming of the Kingdom.

DANAS, 5. NEDJELJA KROZ GODINU:  Isus se sav posvetio navještanju Božje riječi i liječenju bolesnih.  No unatoč toga mnogo je vremena, mnoge noći proveo u moitvi. «Ta zato sam i došao.»
