TODAY, CORPUS CHRISTI: The solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ: During His Last Supper---the night before His suffering and death (agony), Jesus established the Eucharist, as all other Israelites together with His disciples ate the Pasqual Lamb.  It was the old custom, when the Israelites were giving thanks to the Lord for all earthly goods that they received from the Lord, and for deliverance from Egyptian slavery and the crossing of the Red Sea.  They were miraculously saved through the Blood of a Lamb --- saved by marking the doorposts of their houses.  Salvation comes to us through the Lamb, which is Jesus.  We received the grace of sonship through Jesus, through Baptism and Jesus' death.  So by that grace we are able to enter the «promished land» - - - heaven.  Jesus took unleavened bread for the New Testament sacrifice.  That bread reminds us about Jesus' wounded body which becomes the food for all Christians.  The red wine is another element which is used in Jesus' sacrifice; that wine reminds us about Jesus' blood poured out from Jesus's side during His agony.  The covenant that the Lord made with the Israelites was meant only for the chosen Jewish people, while the New Testament is made in the Blood of the Very Son of God, and is meant for all nations.  The Redemptive Blood is poured on all people and the fruits of salvation are given for all men and women all over the world.  Jesus said: «I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.»   In other words Jesus is saying: Even though I am going to die, my life will continue.  He will rise from the dead and begin His Kingdom which will get its final appearance at His final judgment, when all the redeemed will join Him.  That is why the Eucharistic Celebration which we celebrate in memory of His death and His recurrection, is of great meaning.  Whoever eats of this bread and drinks of this cup will have Eternal life, because he eats and drinks the pledge of Eternal life.

Time je i nama omogućen ulazak u «obećanu zemlju».
