TODAY: CORPUS CHRISTI: “I received from the Lord what I handed on to you, namely, that the Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and after He had given thanks, broke it and said: “This is my body, which is for you.  Do this in remembrance of me.”    Then, after supper, He took the cup, and said: “This cup is the new covenant in My blood.  Do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”  Every time, then, when you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes!  This means that whoever eats the Bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily, sins against the body and blood of the Lord.  A person should examine himself first.  Only then should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup.  “He who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks a judgment on himself.” (1 Cor 11, 23-30).   This text clearly speaks about the Eucharist.  St. Paul wrote that he received it from the Lord --- by revelation --- that Jesus at His Last Supper changed the bread into His Sacred Body, and the wine into His Precious Blood.  That evening He gave the world the greatest gift. This gift will remind all of us, throughout the world, about His love that lived among us, and about the sacrifice once offered on the Calvary Altar.  At the same time it will remind us of His Resurrection and Glory which followed.

DANAS: TIJELOVO: Od sv. Pavla (1 Kor 11.23-27) imamo prvi zapis o ustanovi presv. Euharistije. Tijelo i vino u svoju presvetu Krv. No to je spasenje svijeta dobrim dijelom uvjetovano ispravnim stavom i pravom vjerom u Presveti oltarski sakrament.

***THE CANTICLE***

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy

is His Name.

He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation.

He has shown the strength of His arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of His servant Israel for He has remembered His promise of mercy, the promise He made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children for ever. AMEN.
