TODAY: 28th SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME : Today's Gospel recognizes God as a King who is calling us to a wedding feast for His Son.  God himself entered our history in the person of Jesus Christ.  He wants to make a New Covenant with mankind through Him.  In Christ God is calling all men to a holy communion.  It is up to us if we will accept God's call or if we will find some small, insignificant reasons not to anwer His call and in that way exclude ourselves from the wedding feast of the Eternal King.  The Gospel states that people found insignificant reasons not to answer the call.  That's why we understand the King's reaction: «The King was enraged, and none of the invited will participate at the wedding feast.»  This parable was addressed to the religious leaders of Israel.  Through his Son, God called them first.  And they not only did not answer the call, but they were ready to maltreat his Son and kill Him.  That's why God's wrath will come upon them and the call will be directed to other nations.  God's word is a call to every individual.  To answer the call means to leave our past and start walking on God's path --- the path on which God leads His people.  Many do not answer His call.  To them, material things are more important.  The wedding feast will take place if we answer His call or not.  However, on one side of the room there will be a solemn celebration, while on the other side of the room there will be crying, wailing and grinding of teeth.

DANAS: 28.
