Sacramental information

|
|
The
purpose of each sacrament is to sanctify; to bring us into
closer,
more intimate union with Our Lord. Therefore, the greater
our desire
to receive the sacrament is, the more intense our preparation,
the more
serious our commitment to live the sacrament in our everyday
lives,
the greater the effect of each sacrament will be.
|
|
The
Sacrament of Baptism
Parents seeking baptism for their children should keep in mind
that
such request imposes on them a very serious obligation to bring
up their children in the catholic faith(teaching them prayers, basic
concepts of our faith, sending them to religious instructions,
bringing
them to Mass and sacraments regularly, and above all being for
them
the models of Christian living.) Our parish is offering pre-baptismal
classes for the parents who have a desire to share their faith
with
their children. Parents should be members of our parish and both
of them have to attend pre-baptismal classes a month prior to
the
birth of their child.

The
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The
faithful are invited to receive this sacrament frequently, since
it gives us
inner peace and strengthens our relationship with
God and one another. The Sacrament
of Reconciliation can be received in our parish
every Saturday -from 3:00 - 4:00 P.M. every First Friday 7:10-7:30
A.M. & 6:30-7:00 P.M. on Sunday before Masses or any time on request.
Children receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for a first time
a year prior to Holy Communion, usually in second grade.

The
Holy Eucharist (Jesus with us)
Jesus' invitation to eat His Body and drink His Blood is self
evident. He Himself said:
"
...If
you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood,
you have no life
in
you." Jn.6:53. As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration
of the Eucharist
when
we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Holy Communion
devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive
Holy Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave
sin and normally should have fasted one hour before receiving
Holy Communion. A person who is conscious of a serious sin is
not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental
confession. St. Paul in his letter to 1Corinthians says: "Every
time then, you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim
the death of the Lord until He comes! This means that whoever
eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily sins against
the Body and Blood of the Lord. A man should examine himself first;
only then should he eat of the bread and drink of the cup. He
who eats and drinks without recognizing the Body eats and drinks
a judgment on himself." 1Cor.11:26-30
Young children receive the Holy Communion for the first time after
the year of intense preparation following three years of religious
education. For the Eucharistic celebrations consult the Mass schedule.

|
Confirmation
To be able to give witness to Jesus we need to be strengthen by
the Holy Spirit Who comes to us in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
High school students prepare themselves for the reception of this
sacrament by studying and meditating on Scripture, by learning
the articles of faith, the moral guidelines of the Church and
its the sacramental life.
They
are asked to participate more fully in the Eucharistic Liturgy
and community service.

Anointing
of the Sick
"Is there anyone sick among you? He should ask for the presbyters
of the church.
They
in turn are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name
of the Lord.
This
prayer uttered in faith will reclaim the one who is ill, and the
Lord will restore him to health. If he has committed and sins, forgiveness
will be his." James 5:14-15
The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is administered to anyone
upon request.
Every
First Friday the sick and elderly are given the opportunity to confess
their sins and receive the Holy Communion. Please notify the rectory
immediately if anyone among your family members is sick, in the
hospital or confined to home.

|
