| Paper
dreams
or
the newspapers future...
|
In this time and
age when the whole world became a global village, where, in an instant,
we could receive the most information from the Internet, a good
number of the newspapers are struggling, often losing readers and
revenue because of the Internet, television and other media.
With The Buffalo News, and some smaller locally published papers
that we buy and read on daily basis, there is always a certain element
of disappointment in absence of any kind of news and articles important
to us, about and from our community. Along with the larger ethnic
groups in Western New York, Croatian people are also a part of American
fabric and contribute to cultural diversity.
Our Lady of Bistrica church, and parish in Lackawanna are fine example
of a vibrant and active community, this is the place where American
and Croatian members are finding a religious and spiritual guide,
individually and as a group, expressing creativity, building bridges
between cultures and leaving a national and cultural impact.
Croatian Chronicle is an independent Croatian-American newspaper
published in New York, with a distinctive role and a vital influence
on our society. Their guiding principle is an effort to deliver
local news addressing essential issues, promoting our achievements,
Croatian connection with American society and each other. Chronicle
is publishing news and information about our communities in the
United States, Canada and Croatia. They are showing a great enthusiasm
in following activities from our own community in Lackawanna, proving
the point that they are interested in what is happening in our neck
of the woods, were we have a significant place.
Despite the internet, and all news channels, people will still continue
to read newspapers like our Croatian Chronicle, interested in our
own existence, for as long as they were relevant and worth reading.

| Papirnati
snovi
ili
buducnost novina... |
U današnje
vrijeme, doba kad je citav svijet postao globalnim selom, kada u
trenutku moemo dobiti vecinu informacija sa Interneta, dobarj
broj novina i magazina bori se za opstanak, cesto gubeci citatelje
i profit upravo zbog Interneta, televizije i drugih medija.
Uz Buffalo News, i neke manje lokalno publicirane novine koje dnevno
kupujemo i citamo, cesto je prisutan element razocarenja zbog odsustva
bilo kakvih vijesti i clanaka, vanih za nas o našoj zajednici.
Uz ostale vecinski brojnije etnicke zajednice u Zapadnom New Yorku,
Hrvatska zajednica takoder je dijelom Americkog tkiva s doprinosom
kulturnoj razlicitosti.
Crkva Naše Gospe Bistricke, sa upom u Lackawanniodlicnim
je primjerom aktivne i ivotne zajednice, te mjesto gdje Americki
i Hrvatski clanovi nalaze religiozne i duhovne smjernice, osobno
i kao grupa, uz kreativnu izraajnost gradeci mostove medu
kulturama i ostavljajuci nacionalni i kulturni utjecaj.
Hrvatska Kronika su samostalne Hrvatsko-Americke novine publicirane
u New Yorku sa osobitom ulogom i vanim utjecajem na našu
zajednicu. Vodeci princip im je pokušaj dostavljanja lokalnih
vijesti s naglaskom na esencijalnu tematiku, promociju naših
dogadanja, Hrvatsku povezanost s Americkim društvom te našim
zajednicama. Kronika nam istovremeno donosi vijesti iz Amerike,
Kanade i Hrvatske.
Unatoc Internetu i mnogim TV postajama s vijestima i dalje cemo
citati novine, poput naše Hrvatske Kronike, jer one su zainteresirane
za našu egzistenciju, sve dotle dok su relevantne i vrijedne
citanja.
